A trip to Italy for days of nine.
I pack my bag, questioning time.
How many shirts, shorts, how many socks,
how many pants, will I be walking through rocks?
I should pack something nice, a dress, and a hat?
I’ll pick out some clothes that don’t make me look fat.
I get out my sponge to clean my abode.
Preparing for post-trip, to lighten my load.
I scribble instructions to my chosen pet minder,
leaving them cookies with the hopes they’ll be kinder.
My pets are beloved in every way.
When I’m gone, I will worry every day.
For while I am gone having the time of my life,
My cats will be lonely, filled with confusion and strife.
Though I know in my heart that things will be fine.
I’ll have fun on my trip, returning to cats that are mine.
