The opposite of a poem.

What is the opposite of a poem?

A poem is knowledge.

A poem is thought.

But what is the opposite of knowledge and thought?

Is it stupidity?

Simplemindedness?

Is it the willingness to take things as they come to you without question?

Is it a politician who refuses knowledge to back his arguments?

Is it a person who clings desperately to the past like a last breath of air?

Any number of things could be used as the opposite of knowledge and thought.

But are any of them the opposite of a poem?

A poem can be found in a book and a book in a library.

What is the opposite of a book or its library?

Is it a fire, like the one that burned down the Library of Alexandria?

Is it a person who has never owned a library card?

Is it a person drawn to social media, like a moth to a burning, toxic flame?

It’s impossible to say.

But the opposite of a poem?

The opposite of a poem might be the reader, who has not read it yet.
