Proud American

The authoritarian coup tries

to cut through like a knife,

And it tries to rip apart our nation,

tearing up our life.

I’d thank my lucky stars

to be livin’ here today

Now I watch them steal our freedoms,

and demand that we obey.

I was proud to be an American,

where at least I know I’m free.

Though now it doesn’t feel that way,

but I still want to believe

So I’ll try to stand up next to you

and fight for our right to stay.

Even though it’s hard, I love this land

Please save the U.S.A.

From the floor of the empty warehouse,

to the hills of junk debris

The people live in hardship,

from sea to shining sea

We once cared for our neighbors,

and in the streets we’d play.

Now there's hate in our American hearts

So it's time we stand and say

I was proud to be an American,

where once I could be free.

And I do so love my country,

but I don't think it loves me.

So we must stand up, try something new,

and seize the bright new day.

Even though it’s hard, we love this land

Please save the U.S.A.
